Gastro-Intestinal Allergies

Gastro-Intestinal (GI) allergies occur when the immune system overreacts to certain foods or allergens, leading to inflammation and irritation in the digestive tract. These allergies can manifest with symptoms such as stomach pain, bloating, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and, in some cases, more severe reactions like anaphylaxis. Common triggers include foods like dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, and wheat, though any food can potentially cause an allergic response.

For individuals with gastrointestinal allergies, managing these symptoms can be challenging, as reactions often occur shortly after consuming an allergen or even many hours later. In some cases, the condition may also be linked to Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE), a chronic allergic condition causing inflammation  in the esophagus causing difficulty swallowing and other symptoms. Common indicators include:

  • Colic
  • Abdominal pain
  • Nausea
  • Heartburn / Reflux
  • Vomiting
  • Gastritis / Acidity
  • Constipation
  • Hard stool
  • Recurrent Diarrhea
  • Mucus / Blood in stool
